Sony announced new Xperia Series mobile phones in India, Xperia S launched officially

Sony Mobile Communications has officially launched new Xperia S smartphone in India. This phone is available immediately for a price of Rs. 32549/- while other Xperia series mobile phones Xperia P, Xperia U and Xperia Sola are announced to launch in few months.

Sony took over the Ericsson’s stake from the Sony Ericcsson joint venture about an year ago and re-branded it as Sony Mobile Communications. Xperia S is the first mobile launched with the brand Sony Mobile Communications in India.

Sony Xperia S was introduced earlier this year at Consumer Electronics Show and likely to compete with HTC One X and Samsung Galaxy SII. Sony Mobile Communication India’s MD P.Balaji say “Now, as part of the Sony group, we are in an even stronger position to bring connected entertainment experiences to consumers in India. Bringing together the best of Sony’s electronics, networked services and content, the Xperia smartphone is a cornerstone to enjoy entertainment in this connected world”.

Coming to the specifications Xperia S is powered by 1.5 GHz Qualcomm dual-core processor with 1GB RAM and run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread(planned upgrade to v4.0 ICS). This mobile also impresses with a 12.1MP camera and 4.3 inch scratch resistant TFT touch screen with 1280 x 720 pixel resolution.

And in connectivity point of view Xperia S is WiFi enabled, Supports both 2G and 3G, NFC capable and has Bluetooth V2.1 with A2DP, EDR support. It comes with Standard Li-Ion 1750 mAh battery, gives a talktime up to 7 h 30 min (2G) / Up to 8 h 30 min (3G).
